This is a new Yanigasawa 901 soprano saxophone. My son who owns and plays a Selmer Alto sax and plays in the Kansas University marching band purchased this from a dealer, blew into it a few times and has decided that college expenses are a higher priority. The sax has never left our home. We have replaced the mouthpiece with a new Yanigasawa #5. It includes the original case. One of the biggest differences between the 901 versus the 991 is that the 991 has more extra braces and support structures that most definitely give the instrument more mechanical stability. Some people say this gives the 991 a "darker" sound. However this 901 has less extra support rods, etc, so this instrument (in my opinion) resonates a lot more than the 991 because there is less metal that has to vibrate. The 901 and 991 have the EXACT same body tube. Don't miss the chance to own this fantastic, like new soprano at a great price!
