1961 Fender Concert Guitar Amp
Estimated price for orientation: 2 400 $
Category: Guitar Amplifiers
Class:
Description Country/Region of Manufacture: United States Exact Year: 1961 Brand: Fender Model: Concert
This awesome "Brown Face" amplifier dates to 1961. I bought it used in 1979 (I'm the second owner). I have used this as my number 1 amp ever since. There is incredible crunch and clearness when volume is turned above 5. I play Gibsons and Fenders through it and knob twiddling is almost not necessary...You just have to turn the amp on and away you go. There are 2 channels, the second channel with vibrato. No reverb as this predates the 1965 Super Reverb amps which added reverb. The vibrato foot switch is new, the rubber handle also. The original handle is included and pictured. The power cord is original (2 pronged plug). I have serviced the amp twice since 1979, I have never been afraid to let the amp roar at high volume in the rock and blues bands I've played in over the last 33 years, and it has never broken down. The amp has the 4 original 10" Fender Design 10kf brown -coned speakers, all original and in good working order. The amp is all original save for 2 or 3 replacement buttons on the front panel, and the replacement carrying handle. I believe this amp is 40 watts and loud enough for any venue. Weight is @45 pounds. Cosmetically sound, with no tears in the grill cloth or tolex covering. The tolex has some imperfections on the top which are superficial and minor. The screw holes from the old handle are visible on top. A black (non original) Fender cover is included. Only issue with the amp is some noise when the vibrato is turned up too high. Otherwise it's an incredible vintage high performance amp. Warm and sonically clear, with a presence button that helps it cut through a big audience. A great guitar player would want this amp, and a mediocre player could improve his sound simply by using this piece of vintage history More picture are available if requested. I intend to use Fedex ground to ship and I estimate that cost to run between $80-$130.
