Up for sale, a 2016 Fender Telecaster '52 "Thin Skin" reissue from the American Vintage series in exceptional, near mint condition and in perfect working order. One of the most popular and enduring USA made Fender reissues, the '52 Telecaster has the classic transparent Butterscotch finish over an ash body with chrome hardware and single ply black pickguard. The "Thin Skin" line available through Wildwood Guitars adds a couple player friendly modern tweaks to this beloved model, with 6105 fretwire, a modern 9.5" fretboard radius, and a lighter, more breathable nitro lacquer only finish (without the poly base coat common on standard American Vintage reissues). Featherweight at just 7lbs 2oz, this Tele sparkles and chimes with the best, delivering the sinewy snap and hollow twang that put Fender on the map over six decades ago. The guitar is also quite acoustically resonant, feeling very solid when you dig in and sustaining well with good harmonic content. We've had this Tele professionally setup and dialed in to perfection here at our shop Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, with fresh 10-46 strings and low, slinky action. The neck profile is a chunky U shape that achieves full baseball bat chunk and roundness, indicative of what you'd find on a vintage 1952 Tele. The instrument boasts a 1 5/8" nut, 9 1/2" fretboard radius and immaculate 6105 fretwire that has a bit more height and roundness to the crown than vintage-style wire while still feeling intuitive and comfortable to any Fender fan. The one-piece maple neck with matching fretboard cap is constructed just like the originals with truss rod access at the heel. On the headstock, a set of Kluson style Gotoh tuning machines turn smoothly and hold pitch as they should. All of the electronics are stock and untouched, with Fender's black bobbin pickups, cloth wiring and full size CTS pots. The chrome hardware and brass bridge saddles are in fantastic shape, contrasting nicely with the tight, straight grain of the ash showing through the transparent finish. Fender even went to the trouble of using all flat head screws for an authentic look!  Cosmetically, the guitar is virtually unplayed and we can't find a scratch on it. This Tele is truly showroom clean and has essentially spent its life since new in the case! While this is a popular Fender reissue, this is easily one of the nicest examples we've seen, with very tight grain in the ash body wood, and a notably resonant acoustic tone. At 7lbs 2oz, it's one of the lightest and best playing '52 reissue Teles out there. This guitar comes complete with all hangtags, case candy, and the original tweed G&G hardshell case.
