Back in 2007, Gibson made 4 versions of this guitar. They made only 500 of each version. 2 of them were cheaper faded finish standard hardware and came with a gig bag. 2 were high gloss finish. 1-Black and 1-Cherry with Gold hardware using 57 Classics for the pickups. It weighs only 6.5 lbs!!!!! There was another version with single coils , but I see quite a few of them for sale, so they must not be that popular to play and keep. I've owned this guitar for 6 years and have played it. Its not a closet queen , but has been very well taken care of. It has very minor pick scratches on the pick guard and a few belt marks on the back. None are thru the finish. The bridge finish shows signs of wear where my hand rests. I've tried hard to show these in the pics. This is a very rare guitar and it sounds killer. I just need to thin the herd. If you want one of the 500 guitars like this.............you wont find one cheaper. Ive looked!! The guitar comes in an SKB hard shell travel case with lockable TSA lock built in.
Gibson's description is below: Unrivaled playability with fat humbucker tones. The SG-3 guitar pushes the power, sustain, and tonal range of Gibson's legendary SG into new sonic dimensions. Equipped with a revolutionary 6-way pickup switch and three gold-plated Gibson humbuckers--a pair of '57 Classics in the neck and middle positions, and a '57 Classic Plus in the bridge position--the SG-3 goes where no SG has gone before. Sporting a chicken-head knob, Gibson's exclusive rotary selector offers six pickup settings: bridge, bridge/middle, middle, middle/neck, neck, and bridge/neck. Combining unrivaled playability with an extraordinary spectrum of sweet, yet scorching humbucker tones, the SG-3 is the perfect guitar for rock, heavy metal, and blues guitarists.Manufactured in Nashville, TN.A Little SG HistoryIn 1961, the Les Paul was redesigned with a thinner body and 2 sharp cutaway horns that making the upper frets more accessible while lowering production costs. The new guitar was popular, but Les Paul the guitarist did not like it and asked to have his name removed. Gibson renamed the model the "SG" which was short for "solid guitar". Though Les Paul's name was officially removed from the model in 1961, the plastic Les Paul nameplates (positioned between the rhythm pickup and fingerboard) were in abundance in the Gibson factory and SG models having these nameplates were built and sold by Gibson up to end of 1963. SGs have been the choice of world-class artists such as Pete Townsend, Eric Clapton, Tony Iommi, and Angus Young.FEATURES
