Description Brand: Leedy
1930s CONN Leedy Black Elite 6.5x14 The Conn Company bought Leedy drums in 1929. They continued to produce the "Black Elite" model snare drums which was Leedy's response to the famous Ludwig Black Beauty snare drums in the 1920s. These Conn produced Leedy snares are extremely scarce comapred to the Leedys of the 1920s. This in addition to the 6.5 depth makes this drum quite unique! While it isn't in show room condition, this drum has no modifications and will sit well as both a piece in a collection as well as a player. Unfortunately the correct "Speedway" strainer was incomplete when this drum came in to the shop, so it was replaced with a "Utility" Leedy strainer from the 20s that has the exact same mounting holes - resulting in no extra holes or modifications made. Nearly half of the lugs show hairline fracture which was typical of these lugs. All of the lugs hold tension just fine and the drum is playable. The hoops show some wear and tear / scratches / bends, however they are round and sit well on the shell. One tension rod has been replaced with a correct reproduction slotted head rod. Feel free to email with any questions. Shipping quote for continental US only.International Buyers - Email me for a shipping quote before purchase.
