Up for sale, a left handed 2004 Fender Precision Bass in excellent condition and in good working order. Looking to capture the magic that made the early 1960's split-coil P Bass so loved, Fender Japan released this '62 reissue with the same cosmetic appointments, as well as the warmth, articulation and fundamental thump that defines the Precision tone. The bass boasts the combination of an alder body and a rosewood fretboard, giving the instrument both a great attack and a richness that has been the sonic signature of this model for decades. The bass weighs in at 8lbs 14oz and balances well on a strap. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this bass is strung with roundwound 45-100 strings and plays well comfortable action and solid intonation.Produced exclusively for the Japanese domestic market, this model is fairly uncommon outside its country of origin, and especially in a left-handed configuration! The quality is exceptional, and the "Crafted in Japan" instruments exemplify the attention to detail and dedication on the part of Fender Japan to deliver instruments that have both an alluring vintage look and tone to match. The neck has a comfortable medium C shaped profile with full shoulders and more depth in the higher registers of the fretboard. The generous slab rosewood fretboard has a dark tight grain pattern with slender vintage-style frets that are in great shape. These frets retain their full, original height, showing light wear beneath only the A string on frets 1-5 and virtually no wear further up the fretboard. The truss rod is responsive in both directions, the neck is very straight, and notes ring out clearly in all registers with sweetness, sustain, and punch. The nut has a full 1 3/4" width, with a 7 1/4" vintage spec fretboard radius, and 34" scale. On the headstock, the vintage style clover button tuning machines turn smoothly and hold pitch well and the face of the headstock has a classic Pre-CBS style "spaghetti" logo. The back of the headstock even has a third strap button, keeping this instrument period correct right down to the smallest detail. The simple electronics work as they should, with the original pickup wired to Master Volume and Tone controls with knurled metal knobs. The dark brown tortoise pickguard compliments the traditional Pre-CBS style three-tone sunburst finish, and the chrome bridge shines like new. Cosmetically, the bass is very clean, with a few finish dings on the back near the belly contour as well as a few faint finish scratches in the clear coat of the gloss finish. This P Bass has a detailed low end thump and traditional Pre-CBS Fender good looks, with a professional setup from our techs here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar.
