A 1966 RICKENBACKER 365 Semi-Hollow Body 6-String electric guitar The guitar - This beautiful FireGlo guitar is in exceptional condition, but with two issues I'll get into in a moment. I am a collector, not really a player - but I LOVE playing this guitar - it fits my hand very nicely and going up & down the neck is just easy. As for "real" playability, my brother and a neighbor (both "real" guitar players) said it was a one of the easiest guitars to play. What a sound the old "RICs" make with those original toaster-style pickups - and combined with the original wiring, well the newbees just can't match the older classic RIC sound. Serial number is FI 3175, which dates this baby to September 1966 - and being only 1 of 262 365s made in 1966, it may well be a frairly rare find! See the charts from the RIC website below, please. The weight is in the 6-7 pound range. I am not the original owner, so I cannot speak to it's history; the folks I bought it from said they were quite sure everything was original - but if any of you out there see something that you think is not, please message me and I'll publish what you see/find. I have not done/had done any modifications to it - but I cannot say whether or not modifications have been done (other than what I say below) - not that I know of, but I cannot guarantee this. This wonderful looking - AND PLAYING! - instrument has been played some over the years - but gently, to be sure; there are superficial "undulations" or "blemishes" in the finish on the body, NONE OF WHICH go through the finish to the wood; in fact, if you don't turn the guitar to the side and view into a light, you can't even see these blemishes - tho you can feel them. None are what I'd call creases or dents! NO belt-buckle wear at all! Other than on the body, I find a few very small blemishes here and there on other areas of the guitar - maybe 6 or 8 total. But one area I did notice was higher up (toward the headstock) on the fretboard - 3 blemishes that look like they've been repaired some time in the past - see photo; these didn't bother me or the other players anytime we played this 365, so I don't think they would be an issue for you either. NOW ----- some dipwad, in the past, decided to make a hole in the back of the body - for what, I simply cannot imagine, but they did! It is nicely covered & screwed in place with a black plate that, frankly, (not being a RIC expert) I didn't pay any attention when I bought it - and I didn't for many years, until a friend was looking at it and said he'd never seen a RIC with a cover like this on the back of the body. So unscrewed the plate I did, and ....... could not beLIEVE what I saw - what a moron! But, there it is. Since I've had the guitar, it has been in my smoke-free home, displayed vertically from a manufactured guitar "holder" - and played 3 or 4 times, NEVER OUTSIDE MY HOME and ALWAYS played "gently." The Case - is in even better condition than the guitar - I presume it is original, but can't say for sure. This HSCase has been shrink-wrapped and stored in my home since purchase several years ago. The Price - I will entertain all reasonable offers; but let's please be fair to one-another, shall we? I've done my research and see that there are a few 365s available from the mid-60's; all were in MUCH WORSE CONDITION than mine, but all were priced in the mid-to-high 4-thousands. The well-respected "Reverb" website lists an appropriate price tag for a '66 RIC 365 from about $4,800 to $5,300 - so with the condition it's in.Rickenbacker Thin Hollowbody Guitar Production, 1958-1966Model 1958 1959 1960 1961 1962 1963 1964 1965 1966 Total 320 . . . . . . . . 4 4 325 28 . 1 . . . 25 2 40 96 330 16 40 22 11 1 5 32 63 264 454 330/12 . . . . . . 1 22 392 415 335 49 49 24 9 2 8 22 49 442 624 340 1 . . . . 1 . . . 2 345 24 29 44 21 2 . 2 9 128 250 360 OS 14 96 60 26 1 6 . 4 1 208 360 NS . . . . . . 7 96 262 365
