I am the original owner of Blondie here and this package includes all the original case candy and wonderful vibe she's gathered over the years. She's in immaculate condition for her age with no flaws or blemishes to report other than typical honest play wear. You'll see in the photos minor fret wear and pick guard hazing. The tonal balance and range of this guitar is stunning. A unique design of the craftsmanship on this model is there are no back braces on the arched back so the resonance, projection, and lightweight feel are really incredible. This guitar was Gibson's top-of -the line acoustic/electric when it was made and it is 100% stock. The mustache bridge and apparently the arch back body must have been discontinued for cost reasons or something. The slightly arched back provides its own structural strength (like an eggshell does) so no braces were needed. Master luthier Ren Ferguson was running the Montana acoustic shop at the time and he really knocked it out of the park. The short blurb in the catalog that I still have (included with purchase) just says, "The world's most premium acoustic-electric with onboard controls. Made with hand-selected woods!".I currently have it set up at just under 3/32nds on the bass side and 2/32nds on the treble side.Body back/sides material: Highly flamed maple Body shape features: Single cutawayFretboard: EbonyBody style: Jumbo-style bodyBody top material: Select Sitka spruce Soundhole rosette: Abalone
Tuners: Gold Grover Rotomatic
Bridge: Rare mustache ebony bridge
Nut Width: 1 11/16"
Scale length: 24.75"
OHSC: IncludedI have added a condenser mic to the inside that pairs beautifully with the original onboard Fishman UST through the use of a stereo cable into an outboard Fishman Pocket Blender preamp. If you plug in a standard mono cable, you will get the factory Fishman UST. If you use a stereo TRS cable the condenser mic is blended in for a rich natural sound. I used this for solo performances but usually just used the factory Fishman UST when playing in a band which sounds fantastic alone. It's discontinued and a very nice piece of high-end equipment. The Fishman Pocket Blender and TRS cable are available for $150 additional. From the Gibson website:
J-185 ECThe legacy of Gibson’s line of celebrated Jumbos is not lost in the J-185 EC. This eye-catching model builds on the traditional foundation of Gibson’s Jumbo body style, and moves into the present vanguard with a cutaway design for easier playability, along with several elegant, modern appointments for increased aesthetic appeal. The sound is everything you expect from a Gibson Jumbo: warm, huge low end with ringing, harmonically rich treble response, capable of achieving a pure dynamic contrast, which makes it the perfect acoustic for just about any musical genre.
