Up for sale, a 2006 Gibson Explorer electric guitar in exceptional condition and in good working order. Near mint, this guitar has been upgraded with a pair of Gibson Burstbucker humbuckers and amber bell knobs to more closely approximate the model's introductory '50s specs. These medium output PAF reissue pickups capture the detail, harmonic content, and smooth overdrive characteristics for which the classic Gibson humbucker is known, and the radically shaped mahogany body adds inherent warmth and fullness to the sound. The guitar weighs in at 9lbs 4oz, with a sweet, natural sustain and rich acoustic resonance that translates well through the humbuckers. This Explorer has been professionally setup with fresh 10-46 strings, low action, and spot-on intonation. The one-piece mahogany neck has a comfortable medium C shaped profile that is very consistent in depth as you move up the fretboard. With a 1 11/16" wide nut and flawless fretwire, the guitar plays effortlessly with no buzzing or dead spots. On the headstock, the original mini Grover Rotomatic tuning machines turn smoothly with clean gold plating, and the "Gibson" logo is inlaid on the face. All of the electronics work as they should, with individual Volume controls for each pickup and a Master Tone control. The bridge position Burstbucker retains its small PAF sticker on the baseplate, while the neck pickup has been wax potted and lost its sticker in the process. The stock hardware is all accounted for, with a Nashville bridge and matching stoptail, three bell knobs, and a three-ply white pickguard. Cosmetically, the guitar is near mint and shows only a few extremely faint finish scratches in the clear coat on the back. There's a bit of wear through the gold plating on the bass side of the bridge and stoptail as well. The grain on the mahogany body is prominent and stripey on the instrument's face, and it's a particularly dark shade of natural with more saturation than many Explorers on the market. The original hardshell case is included.
