Up for sale, a 1960 Danelectro Shorthorn Standard Model 3021 in excellent, 100% original condition and complete with the stock form fit chipboard case. Commonly referred to as the "Jimmy Page" model, the 3021 is easily one of the most sought after vintage Danelectros, with a jet black nitro lacquer finish, lipstick pickups, concentric knobs and "seal" pickguard. This Dano plays effortlessly and delivers that clear chime and sparkle that you can only get from a pair of vintage "lipstick" pickups. The hollow masonite and poplar body is quite resonant acoustically, delivering the quick attack and hollow twang that is a hallmark of the vintage Danelectro sound, and the instrument weighs in at only 5lbs 14oz. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this Dano is dialed in with 10-46 strings, low action, and the best intonation the rosewood saddle will allow!

While the host of reissue Danelectro models have muddled the model name of this particular guitar, it is officially the Shorthorn Standard Model 3021, and was offered in the years following the single cutaway U2. This model is currently marketed by Danelectro as the "59" and the DC2, noting the instruments Shorthorn Double Cutaway body and two pickup construction. The neck has a comfortable medium C profile that borders on the more slender side of things, with decent shoulders and fairly consistent depth as you move up the fretboard. These neck profiles also had a primitive "burst" finish from the factory (finished on the profile's center and fading to natural on the edges of the profile), and most of the original finish is still present! The original frets show only light wear beneath the E and B strings on frets 1-3, with very well rounded crowns and virtually no wear up the neck. All notes ring out clearly and the frets have lots of life and height left with no buzzing or dead spots. The original aluminum nut is present, with a width of 1 5/8" that's ideal for accurate lead work and easy chording. The original open back Kluson tuners are intact, and these machines feature original white plastic buttons, turning smoothly and holding pitch as they should. The electronics are stock, with original concentric CTS pots that are still surrounded by the original flexible copper shielding. The original four digit date stamp on the small fiber insert below the pots dates the guitar to 1960. The concentric knobs are present and both lipstick pickups are original, with strong and balanced output. The black nitro lacquer finish is bold and sleek on the body, accented by the original white vinyl on the sides. The finish is 100% original with no touchups or overspray, and overall the guitar is in great shape, with the expected small nicks and scuffs mostly relegated to the edges of the body and back of the instrument from light, consistent use. There is also light wear around the edges of the headstock, and there are some very shallow nicks central to the neck profile behind frets 3-4 and 9, but nothing that affects playability in the slightest. The white vinyl that surrounds the body is particularly clean, with no notable discoloration, and only a couple notable scuffs on the edges of the body horns. The original brown chipboard case is included and in excellent shape. The case has clean leather trim, the original handle, and all of the latches. There is a slight odor of smoke to the case, but it dissipates quickly from the guitar once its had a chance to air out.
