This is a classical guitar made in 1983by the well known Tennessee luthier Ted Davis, who passed away in 2008. It is all handmade with solid red cedar top, solid 100-year-old orange osage back and sides, cedar neck, and ebony fretboard. It has an original brass bridge made in W. Germany by Shadow Electronics, I can not verify it still works but my experience with the West German Shadow bridges is that they are bombproof and still work perfectly with the right preamp (not included). Scale length is 640mm. It was owned by a professional guitarist and given to my family after his passing. I'd rather not sell it, but circumstances dictate I do. It has been well used but is still a fantastic player with impeccable tone that only comes with age. It would make a great guitar for a serious student or as a travel/park guitar for an advanced player. Ted Davis's guitars have sold for over $10,000 in mint condition and a little TLC from a qualified luthier could get this up to concert level. John Arnold, another well-known American luthier and friend of Ted Davis, had this to say about it: "I do know that from the serial number, your guitar was made in January 1983, which was about seven years after Ted became a full-time luthier. That date is consistent with the woods Ted was using at the time: Western red cedar for the top, and Osage orange for the back and sides. Ted made some fantastic classical guitars over the years, and once refused to sell his wife Norma's personal guitar to Chet Atkins." Shipping is $30 in the 48 states, and it will be very well packaged. Please ask any questions you may have. Thanks for looking.
