THIS IS RE-LISTED AS THE PERSON IN JAPAN BACKED OUT AFTER COMMITTINGThese things happenSo,In late 1969, Fender USA built a solid rosewood Fender Stratocaster as a gift for Jimi Hendrix who was in the UK soaring to the heights of his fame.George Harrison was gifted a rosewood Telecaster and is pictured using it many times.Jimi never received his gift as he died before it could be presented to him. Now it is lost. There is one photograph of the finished guitar ( a right handed instrument which he would have played up side down of course) I don't believe he ever played a Stratocaster lefty.This now priceless instrument, if it had survived, has never been found and like many components and bodies of Fender guitars back in that day, it was probably stripped and parts used elsewhere.What you see in the pictures is now for sale as a finished replica in SOLID Brazilian rosewood. It is heavy but drop dead gorgeous to look at. It rings as well.The 4 blocks of Brazilian rosewood are fashioned into the body with a maple veneer sandwiched between top and bottom. The neck is solid and the truss rod hidden under a piece of matching rosewood at the back. Brilliant.Some info for you, from my dealings with my Brazil supplierIn Brazil there are several types of rosewood .. Jacaranda do Pará, Jacaranda da Bahia, Jacaranda do serrado, Jacaranda da Amazônia, Craviuna, Violetta ... All are beautiful, great quality .. I think they are the best .. Jacaranda da Bahia Is one of those that has been banned, this type is prohibited the commercialization since 80s, we do not work with this wood.
At The beginning of 2017, the CITES attached several other types of rosewood in appendix 3 and put some rules for marketing of this woods . It is still very recent, my suppliers are still adapting to the new rules and we are waiting, meanwhile we are selling the things we had already produced in Brazil in 2016 and waiting for a position from our suppliers.Hope this helps you reading this descriptionSo you can see we are simply using up partially machined stock already processed prior to the 2017 January announcement The body and neck are basically shaped in Brazil and sent to me for final work ( lasting weeks ) and full replica component assembly. The pickups and electronics are all Jimi Hendrix specification from the US and the whole guitar is finished in Nitro Cellulose satin with about 9 coats all 0000 wire wool finished between coats. The body is only sprayed when the humidity is low and then left to mature/harden for days between coats. Nitro is toxic stuff so we are very careful when applying it.The instrument shown is already made of course but we can take orders to build one for you if you prefer. Orders from the UK are in for a replica George Harrison instrument and we begin that build next week weather conditions allowing !Like all guitars of quality , we set them up and test them but always recommend your own guitar tech. does a final set up especially after a delivery overseas or a distance from Sydney.Finally, you will notice from the pictures that we use true to period components and the waterslide decal is meant to be where it is placed, so don't write to me about it.This guitar is supplied in a black carry case and will be shipped by Pack and Send for about $300.00 overseas and less within Australia.We are not a shop, do not invite visitors and have an excellent return for refund reputation and 100% feedback.If we bespoke build one for you, we take up to 3 months and will not deviate from that or the standards we set for ourselves.....sorry to be an anorak, but that is why these are so beautiful.PayPal charge a lot of commission so we prefer direct bank deposit.This one is fairly priced but as Brazilian rosewood is a rare timber and hard to get ( I have stocks ) your bespoke one may be a little higher priced by a few AUD$.I put this through a Fender 212R Frontman amp ( not a valve amp) and it is mind blowing. Crisp and clear and the sustain sounds for ever. Rosewood is such a dense hardwood that the sound is like a hammer on an anvil.....it keeps ringing. Thank you for looking at this one-off.
