Weight: 6 Lbs., 0 Oz., Neck Width 1 11/16"Here is a super-rare 1982 Epi "America Series" SG Special II, made in Kalamazoo, with the original Shaw PAF Reissue pups. This is from the 1982-3 Epi America Series, that consisted of the SG Special I & II, The Spirit, and "The USA Map" guitars. The Epi SG has some unusual featurers, which include a maple neck, a non-mahogany body (basswood or adler) and the Schaller wraptail bridge. It features the original Shaw PAF Reissue PUPS, which many consider to be Gibson's finest-ever PAF reissue HB. The guitar model later was ported back to the Gibson label at the Nashville factory, so this is one of the very last production guitars to be made by Gibson at the Kalamazoo factory. The guitar plays great and sounds fantastic, with the well-deserved reputation from the Shaw PAFs. Cosmetically, it does have some nicks, dings, and scratches as can be seen in the photos. The pick guard may be an later addition, as I don't believe these originally came with any pickguard. Also, the truss rod cover may be aftermarket, as some of the other Specials I have seen have "Special" engraved on the TRC. So here is a golden opportunity to pick up a super-rare Epi USA SG, but also one of the last guitars made by Gibson in the Kalamazoo factory. Comes with an aftermarket gig bag.
