Description Brand: A. Barre Country/Region of Manufacture: France Skill Level: Intermediate
Vintage A. Barre Paris Oboe - Wood / Wooden French Intermediate / Professional This is a beautifully looking A. Barre Paris Grenadilla Wood Oboe. Circa 70's. This was a professional oboe in its day but with the advanced technologies in oboes since its creation it would now probably be considered an intermediate oboe. It has no cracks no repairs of any kind. It comes with a small box with 3 reeds and 4 more reeds in plastic tubes. The joint lube is probably not good anymore. It is in playing condition. I am not an oboe player and I can easily make sound from this beautiful instrument. The pads are all in good order although the new owner will probably want to get it clean up a little. It also needs new corks as I feel the top joint is a little loose. The A. BARRE' oboes is the A. Laubin's “second–line” of instruments. Made to A. Laubin's specifications, finished by William Glover, voiced by Al Laubin. Good oboes for advanced students/ advanced amateurs. Somewhat bright (“sprightly)“ sound. Some "ethereal," some very good, some "OK," some indifferent. One of the best oboes ergonomically for oboists with small hands. Please feel free to ask any questions or make offer by messaging me.
