For your consideration is this beautiful Gibson Johnny Smith. Serial # 81560035 indicates that this guitar was built in June, 1980, in Kalamazoo Michigan. This instrument was originally bought and owned by my brother, a music teacher, and it sat in his music school for 34 years until he passed away. It was never taken out of its environment. David Petillo of Petillo Guitars, Ocean NJ , has brought this Johnny Smith up to world-class standards and specifications, including: Ø Level and micro polishing of all frets Ø True up and level all inlays Ø Polish and lubricate the tuners Ø Upgraded to Gibson L5 specifications, including new Seymour Duncan design pickup and volume/tone controls- all completely re-wired Ø New gold input jack Ø Precision gain adjusting of each pickup point for even gain across the 6 strings Ø New tortoise shell pick guard Ø Attention/repair to minor dings and scratches (see below) Ø Complete and accurate setup with flatwound strings- the way a jazz musician would want. Mr. Petillo advises that he is available for any questions regarding the condition and quality of this magnificent guitar. If interested, please message me and I will provide contact information. This is a truly beautiful instrument, not only in its appearance but in its playability and sound. It has that warm jazz feel and tone that only a Gibson vintage archtop can deliver. As with any vintage instrument, there are some minor scratches and imperfections, mostly in the rear where the neck meets the body. There was also some blistering of the lacquer in the back of the neck; this was repaired as best possible without taking the path of re-spraying the guitar in order to preserve the original finish and tonal quality (See Photos). The guitar will come shipped in the original Gibson case, also in excellent condition, complete with the original protective outer canvas cover. Please see my 100% feedback and buy with confidence.
