If Guitars could only talk, MAN would this one have some stories to tell. It was kind of a project when I bought it, and risky since it at some time had had a headstock repair, but when I got it I just loved the vibe, the slim neck with the Ebony fretboard and the vintage style jumbo wide frets. It had been refinished at some point (with what I have no idea) but it cleaned and shined up nicely and definitely had that feel of a worn yet really comfortable, solid guitar.Just to be sure though I tested the neck/headstock with medium gauge strings (heavier than I would ever use on it) and it held tune perfectly. Still, it did need a little more TLC and that's what I've given it.First of all, the pictures all look red. It's raining cats and dogs outside right now so I can't photograph it in natural light, The last shot shows it's true color much better. I call this guitar Frank because it reminds me of Frank Zappa's old SG standard, a LOT. Anyway, I dumped the Schaller tuners and put 18:1 Grover lockers on it, yanked the Seymour Duncan full shred pickups and dropped OEM (Gibson) Burstbucker Plus PAF's in it, and picked up a brass saddled Harmonica bridge for it (didn't like the pot metal saddles) which I am about to install very shortly, and of course cleaned, shined and set it up.So let's be clear, this is a working musician's guitar, not a collector's item. It plays well, sounds incredible, weighs about as much as an older Les paul (this thing has GOT to be 8-9 pounds min.) unlike these new SG's that feel like they're made out of balsa wood. I put it in a Gator foam molded softsider case because A. It didn't have a case and B. because the lightweight stuff is the way I roll these days (60 years old with a bad right leg). All in all it's a damned nice guitar and if it weren't for a recent death in the family I wouldn't be selling it. Really Cheap opener for a 45 year old guitar, and shipping will only cost you $25 bucks (In the case, carefully packed). Payment must be made by Paypal at auctions end. Thanks for taking a look. PS: Use the Buy it now and I'll throw in the shipping for free.
