Up for sale, a 1959 Supro 1614N Spectator tube amplifier in very good condition and in perfect working order. This miniature vintage wonder delivers the kind of midrange thickness and grit that's unique to Valco's vintage preamps and original point-to-point circuits. USA made with a 5 watt Class A circuit and 8" Jensen speaker, this amp is perfectly suited for the recording studio, and sounds positively huge with a mic in front of it. The circuit couldn't be simpler, with volume and tone controls,as well as three 1/4 inputs, independently voiced for "instrument" or "microphone ". Aside from a new three-prong power cable, the circuit is completely original and stocked with vintage RCA tubes. The speaker is an era correct Jensen C8R ceramic driver that has been freshly reconed and dates a few years after the production of the amp, yet has a sound that delivers a touch more clean tone and punch than the Alnico speaker which would have come stock in this Supro. The original textured gray and white two tone covering is in nice condition for a 58 year old amp. The white faceplate retains the original knobs and shows only light wear near the pilot lamp. The original small serial number badge is intact on the back panel, and aside from some light wear around the corners of the enclosure, this Supro is quite clean and would look great in a studio.
