Description
Bow Size: 4/4 Country/Region of Manufacture: France
Brand: Emile A Ouchard

This auction is for a broken Emile A Ouchard violin bow, as pictured.Description:  The butt of the stick is stamped "E. A. OUCHARD PARIS" on both sides.  It's also stamped "2  47" under the frog, which I think means it was made in February, 1947.  The frog has a Hill-style mounting on the stick.  The ebony frog is mounted with silver ferrule, heel plate, rings and underslide.  The underslide is fastened with two small screws.  The adjuster button is a nickel replacement.  The grip is a is silver wire winding with a thumb leather.Condition:  I think that this bow is not worth restoring, so it is being sold just for the salvage value of the frog. The head broke off the stick.  A new head was grafted on using a V-type graft which extends about 4 1/2 inches down the shaft.  Then the new head broke off.  Someone tried to re-attach it with a screw or pin, but it fell off and it is lost. The frog is in excellent condition with no cracks or repairs.  The pearl slide and part of one of the pearl eyes are missing.
