Ca. late 1940's / early 1950's Artur Lang ; All solid woods / carved archtop jazz guitar. Plays very fine, with a low action.  It has a great tone, too, while being evenly balanced through the entire register. Artur Lang is the most legendary of all German archtop guitar makers. He was born in Schönbach/Egerland in 1909, the most famous center of stringed instrument making in Europe. He attended the extraordinary School of Musical Instrument Making. After a hard time in the war, he resettled in Mittenwald, and thereafter  in nearby Garmisch. In just a few years, he was able to gain a huge reputation among local professional guitarists. His guitars implement a tremendous knowledge of violin making procedures. In combination with "golden ears and hands" he continued to build an estimate of about 800 guitars in his one-man workshop between 1949 until 1972. Almost no advertizing was done, as most aspiring owners of a Lang guitar needed to wait two years on an average before their wish was fulfilled. Lang was a merciless perfectionist, from the painstaking ultra-selection of his tonewoods. His guitars are very sought-after by players. Interestingly, also for collectors, is that this Lang is engraved “Zenit” on the metal headstock overlay.  Only very few of such were made until around 1954/55.  The Zenit are the scarcest of the rebranded Lang’s. Several other brands were made by Lang  for larger retailers in Germany (probably fewer than one hundred)Prämus (Musik Schmidt in Frankfurt)Mastro Arturo (Walter Zöphel in Aschaffenburg)Alosa (Alois Sandner around and in Bubenreuth)Zenit (Unknown who the Zenit brand belonged to; extremely rare)Condition: Please carefully look at all the photo's; they are an integral part of the description. I have tried to be very detailed. As far as I can see, it has been refretted, and there are a couple of holes in the side of the neck where once a pickup was.  There is a (small, clean)  hole for an output jack on the side too, which is probably not original. Bridge and pickguard are repro parts.  One tuner button is replaced. Thanks for looking, please ask questions where needed. For security, please understand the seller conditions before bidding: "Zustand wie abgebildet: mit Gebrauchsspuren, etc. Dieses ist ein Privatverkauf. Garantie, etc wird nicht übernommen. Ich übernehme keine Haftung bei Zerstörung, Verlust, etc durch die Post. Der Verkauf erfolgt unter Ausschluss jeder Gewährleistung und Rücknahme."
