1949 C F MARTIN D18 A rare sale of one of martins 40s jems usually only offered by dealers at simply out of reach money.
This is the era of the first straight braced Martin's, built as lightly as their war era cousins but with a straight flat topped brace, they offer a rich and fat sound with more control than the earlier examples. This guitar is very clean and undisturbed inside and being a early martin beautifully ribboned too. The outside displays lots of playwear in all the right places and holds up in a very solid and attractive way. Possibly Adirondack spruce top, Honduras mahogany rims and back with a Brazilian rosewood finger board, bridge and headstock overlay, It only has two very minor ancient rim repairs and all original finish which is amazing for guitar that's seen this much action. T-bar neck reinforcements and kluson octagon tuners. The guitar last year went to one of the UKs finest luthiers david crozier for a neck set and set up and came back absolutely wonderful with a particular interest to perfect intonation, used buy many collectors and high end vintage dealers David comes highly recommended. Ultimately what we have is a genuine late 1940s dreadnought that looks, feels and sounds Just as it should after being clearly loved and played for all those years, Awesome! Super wide open with untouchable headroom, responsive and resonant with a very loud voice that's clear sounding with all those haunting vintage tones.
Comes with period hard case as seen.. Mike 07885794868
