To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Les Paul Reissue, Gibson has gone back to the drawing board to create the most accurate vintage Les Paul reproductions to date. The Gibson Custom Shop 1957 Les Paul Goldtop Dark Back VOS is as close as Gibson has ever come to producing a Goldtop that might just have popped out of a time machine set to go back to 1957. This axe features an updated VOS antique finish, classic hardware, hide glued neck, new truss rod and tuner designs, and vintage-style trapezoid fretboard inlays. Owning the Gibson Custom 1957 Les Paul Goldtop Dark Back VOS solidbody electric guitar is truly like owning a piece of music history.Gibson's latest Custom Shop additions include new appointments to add even more authenticity and vintage vibe to their guitars. Necks are now attached using hide glue which many argue sounds better than synthetic glue. Gibson Custom Shop also re-engineered the truss rod, truss rod washer, and anchor to their original form. They also eliminated the tubing that surrounded the truss rod. New Kluson Green Key Tuners now feature proper vintage profile, color and performance specifications.Gibson Custom paid just as much attention to the 1957 Les Paul Goldtop Dark Back VOS's electronics as they did to its aesthetics. Beginning with vintage CTS potentiometers and bumble bee capacitors, every part of its internal signal path is designed to give you absolutely dead-on '57 Les Paul tone. Of course, it's next to impossible to find genuine '50s PAFs (even for Gibson). Instead, the Custom Shop 1957 Les Paul Goldtop Dark Back VOS sports a pair of Gibson's Custom Bucker humbuckers.
