This listing is for my 1994 Gibson historic Les Paul R9. I purchased this guitar from Marks guitar loft 12/23/2004. I am the second owner. It has one of the nicest, deapest flame tops I've seen. I have gotten many compliments on it over the years and many offers to sell it. 1994 is noted for some of the best tops and best tonewoods that Gibson has produced. Tops like these don't come around often. After more research and from help from the fellas on the Les Paul forum there is no guarantee this guitar was painted by Tom Murphy. He painted all historic R9's until the end of 1994. I believe he left Gibson in Nov of 1994. This guitar may have been painted in Nov by him or in early Dec after he left. It does look like his work but I can't guarantee it.             The guitar came with Gotoh tuners installed and the originals were included. The original tuners were put back on the week I bought the guitar in 2004. As you can see from the headstock photos the paint is not perfect around a few peg holes. Pickups are original to the guitar and are 57 classics. Covers have never been removed. The tone of the guitar is very balanced with honky mids and a sweet top end. Lots of double tones.    All hardware and plastics are original. The nut was upgraded by the original owner to bone. I have left it as it sounds and plays great. The original nut will be included. The action is low and the original frets have plenty of meat on them. The neck is bone straight. The fretboard looks to be Brazilian as it is extremely dark and Brazilian is known for these years but I cannot say for sure. So no guarantees on that. The neck is an extremely comfortable medium C shape with small shoulders and a medium heal. It's a very fast neck. Comes in original case with hangtags and original receipt. The guitar is not perfect and I have included photos of some dings and scratches. There are some pick scratches on the body by the low E string as pictured where this would typically happen with normal use. It has a great aged vibe to it. I take extremely excellent care of my guitars. The frets and neck are maintained with each string change. I am a collector so the guitar has had very little use. Guitar weighs approx 8lbs 15 oz. Shipping is a fate rate of $125.00 in CONUS with full insurance. If international please email me for shipping rate above the $125 rate. All duties and import taxes are paid by the buyer.     I have just sold a 2002 Gary Rossington limited-edition R9 here on eBay for $11,400. I have a Collectors choice #37 Carmelita and #24 Nicky for sale as well. Both hand picked and amazing examples of the run. If you have interest in this guitar please email me. Please reach out with any questions, I will do my best to help. TERMS OF SALE:
