The Schecter Van Nuys strats are unmatched for playability, sound and tone. Mark Knopfler played Schecter Dream Machines to give him his unique guitar sound that was the heart and soul of Dire Straits. Key to this legendary sound was the high output of the Schecter F500T tapped pickups and the three mini toggle pickup selector switch that allowed him to activate all 3 pickups at the same time with 27 potential pickup configurations. Schecter Van Nuys Dream Machines sell for $3,000+ if you can find them. An OEM loaded Schecter Van Nuys pickguard With F500T's with AB pots and Schecter toggles will set you back over $1,000.Ingo Raven at MK Guitar (MK-Guitar.com) commissioned Harry Haeussel Germany's top pickup manufacturer to duplicate the F500T and Schecter electronics to produce a 100% accurate Schecter like loaded pickguard that produces the same Knopfler sound as the originals. I own 3 Schecter Van Nuys Dream Machines and the sound is dead on.I've mounted the loaded MK brass pickguard onto a natural relic Fender 1983 JV Squier Export 3 color burst body. In order to duplicate the flame maple neck without fret dots that Knopfler favored I installed a vintage tinted Mighty Mite Dagger 7.5 radius slender maple neck with light poly sealer and gold Kluson tuners. I have small hands and the neck plays fast and string bending is a breeze. For another $15 I'll include an OEM Schecter decal.I installed a Schecter Van Nuys brass bridge, neck plate, tremolo block, and saddles, brass strap buttons accompanied by an MK brass backplate;  The entire setup produces a sound which is a duplicate of Knopfler's Dream Machine with original F500T's at a fraction of the price. The parts alone would set you back $1,300-$1,400. I'm getting to the stage of life where I've got to thin the herd and my sons are getting 2 of my 4 Van Nuys Dream Machines. I want this baby to go to a player that will appreciate its features and unique sound.
