Up for sale, a Gretsch Duo Jet G6128TCG in near mint condition and in perfect working order. Finished with a Cadillac Green top and gloss natural mahogany back and neck, this Gretsch boasts premium vintage features including Dynasonic pickups, Bigsby B3 vibrato, and Melita bridge. Matching specs for the 1957 model year, this Duo Jet delivers a very resonant and clear acoustic tone from the chambered body, and the Dynasonic single coils are sweet, authoritative, and (as the name would suggest) very sensitive to a player's picking dynamics. There's a bell-like twang and roundness to single notes played on the bridge pickup, while the neck position single coil has quite a bit of woof and thickness while still retaining great string to string balance and clarity. The instrument weighs in at a modest 7lbs 14oz too! Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this Duo Jet is dialed in with optimal intonation, low action, and 10-46 strings. The mahogany neck has a smooth gloss finish on the slender C profile, and the profile carve is just shy of a very soft V behind the not. The profile grows notably deeper and rounder as you move up the fretboard with bigger shoulders and a substantial yet fast feel. The bound rosewood fretboard has aged white binding and classic humpblock inlays. The slender vintage-style fretwire is nearly flawless with just a hint of wear beneath the plain strings on frets 1-3, with virtually no wear further up the neck and perfectly rounded crowns. The nut is a hand carved piece of bone that measures 1 11/16" in width. On the headstock, the original Grover Sta-tite tuners turn smoothly and hold pitch well. All of the electronics work as they should, with individual Volume controls as well as a Master tone, and a Master volume on the treble side body horn. A traditional three-way pickup selector switch rounds things out on the bass side lower bout. The bridge is what Gretsch refers to as a Synchro-Sonic design (a new name for the classic Melita) and comes with two sets of intonation adjustment screws. The low profile screws currently on the bridge allow you to palm mute with ease, while the taller, vintage-style screws are included in the case. The B3 vibrato actuates very easily and succeeds at providing quick warbles and deeper, guttural dives while reliably returning to the original pitch.Cosmetically, this guitar shows sparingly little wear, with a few extremely faint finish scratches in the clear coat on the instrument as a whole. There is also very light patina on the vibrato arm and top of the bridge, while the pickup rings, Bigsby, and knobs retain vibrant gold plating. As the photos show, this Gretsch has been very well cared for over the past 13 years. The original hardshell case is included and also in near mint condition.
