Up for sale, a 1967 Fender Coronado II in excellent condition and in perfect working order, with a gorgeous Antigua finish over a beechwood Wildwood body! This is the only example we've ever seen of two of the Coronado's most popular cosmetic looks on the same guitar, with the light forearm wear on the lower bout edge revealing the vibrant stripes of a Wildwood finish beneath the stock Antigua burst. This guitar comes complete with all the bells and whistles, featuring the very rare Grover made Fender tuners and the floating Coronado vibrato unit! The custom color Antigua finish has never looked better on another Fender instrument, and this particular example has the rich greenish burst for which these guitars are known, with notable yellowing of the clear coat on the nitro lacquer finish. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this Coronado plays as well as the day it left the factory and sound rich and chimey thanks to the pair of stock DeArmond made single coil pickups. The neck has a comfortable, medium C profile with a worn in nitro lacquer finish that reveals the bare maple on the fretboard edges and is very smooth on the palm. The bound Brazilian rosewood fretboard sports pearl block inlay and original fretwire which has been leveled and crowned in the guitar's lifetime. Currently, the frets show light, uniform wear on frets 1-3, with lighter flattening of the fret crowns beneath the plain strings until fret 6, and virtually no wear further up the fretboard. The guitar boasts the traditional Fender 25 1/2" scale, with a 7 1/4" fretboard radius and 1 5/8" width nut. On the headstock, the Grover tuning machines with pearl buttons are just about the coolest looking and most reliable tuner Fender ever used on their instruments, and these ones are marked with the signature Fender "F" on the back of each tuning machine. The matching Antigua headstock shows notable finish checking and a deep yellowish burst from natural aging and has its clean, original Fender decal. On the body, all of the original hardware is intact including the "Antigua" labeled pickguard. Since the pickguard and body received different clear coats from the factory, the pickguard did not react to UV rays and age in the same way as the body, retaining the stark green and creme colors of an unfaded Antigua.  All of the electronics work as they should and the vibrato unit works smoothly and the floating bridge with Fender Mustang style saddles keeps the strings anchored well and moving smoothly with heavy use of the vibrato unit. A modern Jazzmaster vibrato arm will be included and is the same relative length and curvature of the original arm.Cosmetically, this guitar shows prominent lacquer checking across the entire body.  The guitar shows an assortment of expected small nicks on the sides, but sparingly little buckle rash, and this is a fine example of a rare and infinitely cool Fender model. Other wear of note includes one extra tiny hole on the headstock face from a previously installed string retainer, and an added 1/4" chrome jack plate on the side of the instrument. There is also a spot of wear through the finish on the inside edge of the treble side body horn. The chrome hardware is in great shape on the pickup covers, vibrato unit, and floating cups on either side of the bridge, with heavier patina on the bridge saddles.A modern TKL hardshell case is included. The handle is in good shape and the two forward latches work as intended, while one of the back latches is only partially intact.
