Up for auction is a beautiful and rare vintage Neumann U87i microphone that has been modified with a tube by the late Fred Cameron of Cameron Labs. The microphone can be used with or without the mod. When using the cardioid pattern on the microphone, it operates at a normal U87, and it sounds fantastic! U87s of this era are often regarded as sounding smoother than their contemporary models. When engaging the omni pattern on the microphone, the tube mod is activated and it makes the microphone sound remarkably similar to a U67! I've compared this microphone side by side with both a U87 and a U67, and it sounds like a great version of both. Incredibly versatile. You get the bite of an 87, or the smooth silk of a 67. This microphone is in really great condition. Original owner. Used in a smoke-free studio. Case, cable, power supply, and power cable included. Shock mount not included. Sold as/is.
