I have an English horn that I need to sell. Unfortunately due to other preoccupations, it does not get played much anymore. I used it in college and now it needs to be in the hands of someone who will cherish it. Here are the specs: Handmade Theo Markhardt English horn, late 70's.
Descends to low Bb.
Ring system, 3rd octave key.
Converted to semi-automatic octave key action.
Revoiced by David Teitelbaum.
Comes with 3 bocals...One heavy wall, not sure of the make. I bought this from a dealer on the West Coast about 6 years ago. It has cracked since then (lower joint around the top tenon, and on the bell around the socket tenon, see pictures) and I haven't gotten around to fixing it yet. Top joint does not have any cracks and has good suction.
Absolutely sings. Resonates like crazy. Big, rich, full sound but the horn itself isn't too heavy. Previous owner was reluctant to sell it at first.
May need some adjustments upon arrival, and the cracks deserve to be repaired. The lower joint tenon cork can stand to be replaced. Other than that, it's in near 100% condition. I'm including a plastic stand for the instrument, as well as a neck strap. The case cover is an older Lorée cover; the right zipper doesn't work well but I want it to stay with the horn so I'm including it. Lots of life left in this horn, if you have any questions please don't hesitate to contact me.
