The Carpender's Companion Organ was arguably the first of the portable organs inspired by the great pioneer migration to the west in the mid 1800's. This particular example is considered to be in "collector's quality and possibly museum quality" as described in a letter provided by the last technician who serviced it in 1993. That original letter will be sent along with the organ as well as some other misc research that I did a number of years ago. Except as follows, the organ is completely original with all the gold leaf decals completely intact and bright. Everything functions as designed. The organ was restored in 1961 by Ralph Star of Long Island, New York who was considered one of the best reed organ experts of his time. It was updated again in 1993 when it received new leather bellows, pedal pads and several reeds, all to original specifications. The cabinet is not perfect and but nice enough where it would easily come to life from a little time with a cabinet restoration expert. I'm willing to ship this and will pack it extremely well, but I would feel much more comfortable if this were picked up (no shipping charge) or sent by a furniture, antique or piano moving company.
