Up for sale, a 1966 Fender Coronado II in excellent, 100% original condition and in perfect working order. The rich, transparent red factory finish highlights the subtle speckling of birdseye figuring and prominent grain of the maple, accented by chrome hardware and the original white pickguard. Weighing a mere 5lbs 10oz, this fully hollow instrument has a bright and clear acoustic voice that translates well through the pair of original DeArmond made single coil pickups. Clear, warm, and articulate when plugged in, the pickups deliver a wide range of tones, from sinewy twang and sparkle in the bridge position, to more mellow and full bodied tones at the neck. One of the hallmarks of any DeArmond pickup is their percussive clarity and string to string balance, and this Coronado really exemplifies those tonal qualities. Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar, this Coronado plays as well as the day it left the factory, with 10-46 strings and low, comfortable action. The one-piece maple neck has a quintessential Fender medium C shaped profile that still retains much of its gloss nitro lacquer sheen, although decades of use has made the finish very smooth and worn it down to the bare maple behind frets 1-5.  The Brazilian rosewood fretboard is bound and sports pearloid block inlay. The original slender vintage fretwire is still intact, and these frets have been leveled and crowned in the guitar's lifetime, currently showing virtually no wear and playing cleanly up the neck with no buzzing or dead spots. On the headstock, the original F style tuning machines are intact, turn smoothly and hold pitch well. The neck is very straight and plays effortlessly, and the truss rod is responsive. On the body, the stock transparent red finish highlights the grain in the maple on both the top and back of the instrument. The body has checkerboard binding on the top as well, and it's a real sharp look with the chrome hardware and original white pickguard.  All of the electronics work as they should, with a sparkle and fullness to the pickups that is distinctly unique to this model and the custom pickups designed by DeArmond for Fender. It's a classic Fender tone with the full bodied sound of a hollow instrument!  The chrome hardware shows no notable wear aside from moderate patina on the bridge saddles. The Fender stamped chrome pickup covers, floating bridge, and trapeze tailpiece are in great shape. It's a very clean instrument overall with a 100% original gloss nitro lacquer finish that is still very vibrant with no touchup or overspray. There's a bit of light, targeted buckle rash on the back adjacent to the neck plate as well as a few stray light finish scratches and tiny nicks, but aside from that minor, expected wear it's a particularly nice example that has been well cared for and played just enough to feel nicely worn in.The original Victoria Luggage hardshell case with gold plush interior is included. While this case has the extra length at the headstock for a Coronado XII model, in all likelihood it's been paired with this guitar since it was new.
