Up for sale, a 1960 Fender Harvard in excellent condition and in perfect working order. Produced at the tail end of the narrow panel tweed era, this Harvard boasts a 100% original circuit and is very capable of delivering the classic Tweed tones for which this amp is known! With a clean chrome faceplate, stock leather handle, original transformers, Jensen P10R speaker, and of course the original tweed, this Harvard is a clean and original example. Historically, this rare Tweed Fender model has been associated with Steve Cropper, and it chimes with a rich and dynamic sound that few amps can match. Pushing ten sweet tube watts through a pair of 6V6 power tubes, the Harvard has just the right amount of clean signal before cascading into smooth, slightly compressed tube overdrive. Not many amps are as interactive and rewarding to play, and the Harvard responds to your most subtle shifts in feel and pick attack. The circuit is untouched, with the original yellow Astron tone caps in the preamp and Minimite filter capacitors in the power amp. The original Triad power transformer is present, as well as the original Schumacher output transformer, dating to the 2nd week of 1960. The original Stackpole pots are present as well, dating to the 52nd week of 1959. The speaker is a Jensen P10R with a clean green frame and fresh recone, dating back to 1952. While this is the exact speaker model and frame color that would have been present in this amp from the factory, the speaker is an era-correct replacement installed during the amp's lifetime. The cable is the original gray two-prong variety, although we'd be happy to upgrade the amp to a three-prong plug and include the original at no extra cost. The tube chart is clean and intact on the inside of the cabinet, noting the amp's 5F10 circuit. The "JB" date code on the chart dates the amp to February of 1960, and the tube chart date code is typically the latest on a vintage Fender amp.The original tweed is intact and particularly clean aside from the front right edge which was subject to a bit of "cat scratch fever." There's moderate ambering of the lacquer and a bit of light staining on the bottom and left side of the cabinet, and both original back panels are present. The "Fender Harvard" badge on the face of the amp is intact, and the faceplate is one of the cleanest we've seen, with chrome that is remarkably shiny, retaining 100% of the original white silkscreen lettering and showing only faint surface patina. Even the leather handle is original, and few narrow panel tweeds have been as clean and well cared for as this example.
