Description
Type: Acoustic Size: 4/4
Brand: CW Packham Country/Region of Manufacture: United Kingdom

Violin no. 15 by maker and repairer CW Packham of 289 Fulham Rd, London, circa 1920s. Nice refined even tone to my ears, light solid construction, and a nice feel in the hands. Had new bridge and soundpost reset in June 2014 and was assessed to be worth £700.00-1,000.00 at that time (receipt and valuation included with sale). Also includes high quality case by Minoan cases with detatchable canvas cover, although one part of the handle has broken and will need to be fixed/replaced. No bow included. The main issue with the violin is a cosmetic one, namely that the varnish appears generally dull, and there are certain places where it looks to have 'bunched' and slipped slightly. I can't think of better verbs to use, but hopefully the pictures show this. It's not pretty, but it is only cosmetic. This is also the case on the back of the violin where the varnish looks to've cracked also. Again, it's only skin deep, and the wood is solid. I will post this violin anywhere in the UK, or can bring it into work with me in central london if the buyer would rather avoid the cost and collect in person. Prospective buyers are also welcome to view and play the instrument in hertfordshire, but please contact me to arrange this. Any questions, don't hesitate to ask.
