Up for sale, a 1972 Mosrite Celebrity I vintage hollowbody electric guitar in excellent, 100% condition and in perfect working order. With the Celebrity I being made almost exclusively on a special order basis by the '70s, this model is a particularly unique example with the rare Mosrite humbuckers and factory phase push/push switches. Given the fully hollow maple body, this is a guitar that can deliver everything from crisp country twang to detailed, mellow Jazz tonalities with ease. Contrasting a bit with the Mosrite single coils, the humbuckers have less midrange woof while still being hot and present. The bridge pickup is positively glassy, and the note detail and top end snap is accentuated by the push/push switch which puts the two pickup coils out of phase for a touch of quack. The neck pickup compliments the bridge perfectly, while being inherently warmer and rounder. Complete with a slick black factory finish, tortoise appointments, and of course the Moseley vibrato unit, it's the Mosrite you never knew you wanted but absolutely need! Professionally setup here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar and weighing 9lbs 4oz, this Celebrity I is dialed in with 11-50 strings for optimal intonation and low, slinky action.The neck is a very slender C shape typical of Mosrite profiles, with a very flat central portion of the profile and consistent, slim depth as you move up the neck. It's as "fast" a neck as has ever been carved and exceedingly easy to play for lightning fast leads and chording. The scale length measures 24 1/2" and the guitar retains its original slender/low fretwire. These frets retain their full factory height, which is to say they are inherently quite low just like Semie Moseley liked them, and there is virtually no fretwear on the entire board. It's just stunningly clean! The original aluminum nut measures 1 9/16" in width although the neck itself is slightly wider than the nut, giving an ideal amount of space between both low and high E strings and the fretboard edges. On the headstock, the guitar is fitted with ostensibly original Grover Rotomatic tuners that turn very smoothly and hold pitch as they should.All of the electronics work as intended, with individual Volume, Tone, and Phase controls for each humbucker. The Moseley vibrato and roller bridge work together perfectly allowing for subtle warbles and fairly deep dives with a light touch. These vibratos are particularly elegant and easy to actuate, responding quickly and able to deliver quick trills and more subtle pitch shifts than most Bigsby-esque units. The original hardware is all accounted for with particularly clean and shiny chrome on the knobs, vibrato, and bridge. Other appointments include the tortoise pickguard and matching oversized jack plate.Cosmetically, this Mosrite is remarkably clean, with a 100% original black gloss finish that shows no touchups or overspray. There are a few spots of finish checking and a couple nicks on the bass side headstock edge and lower bout side of the body, but overall this is a very clean and well kept vintage Mosrite.The 2 3/4" deep Celebrity I Mosrites are exceedingly rare in the '70s, and as a special order instrument, it's likely that the cosmetic appearance and features make this a one-off guitar.A vintage hardshell case with gold interior is included.
