2008 GETZEN MODEL 700S "ETERNA II" - SILVER PLATED MEDIUM LARGE BORE SEMI-PROFESSIONAL Bb TRUMPET WITH A CUSTOM BRUSHED/ POLISHED FINISH IN NEAR MINT CONDITION
I have been playing horns for 59 years...collecting and restoring vintage trumpets and cornets, and building custom horns for 48.  Over the decades I amassed a vast trumpet/ cornet collection.  During the past few years I have thinned out the herd and continue to do so.  All my horns are gig ready...cleaned, valves adjusted & aligned with new corks & felts when necessary. PLEASE LOOK AT THE OTHER HORNS I HAVE LISTED For your consideration, here is an 8 year old Getzen Eterna II 700S that is in need of a new owner.  During that time the horn sustained some tiny ripples on the bell flare that are so minor they are felt rather than seen...more than likely caused by an aggressive "huff and stuff" of a mute.  Other than a small micro ping on the left side of the 1st valve casing, and another on the inside of the bell flare, the trumpet is in flawless condition.  The original paperwork is missing, but since Getzen offers a lifetime warranty on its valves no matter who owns the instrument, the paperwork really isn't necessary.  I have a vintage V. Bach 1 1/2 C mouthpiece that will be included.  The Eterna 700 lineup was discontinued a few years back, so while you can still find some N.O.S. 700's out there for $1,495., why pay that price when you can have this custom finished, near mint trumpet for considerably less.
Prior to the 1963 factory fire, Carl "Doc" Severinsen (Johnny Carson's bandleader on the "Tonight Show") became affiliated with Getzen, and as chief of research and development, designed the 900 Eterna and 590 Capri series of trumpets and cornets.  Both series were introduced in the fall of 1964 and garnered immediate kudos.  At the time, Getzen listed the Capri as a semi-pro model until the introduction of the semi-pro Eterna 700 series when it was then demoted to intermediate status.
This 700S Eterna II is a lightweight 2 lb. - 4.8 oz. trumpet that will accommodate virtually any music style and acoustic venue.  The trumpet has a clear and resonant tone that is easily controlled...its sound is big, bold, rather round, centered and focused.  It is a very free and open blowing horn with a rich, slightly warm tone that produces a sophisticated edge when pushed, and loves to be piloted in the stratosphere.  This horn has excellent intonation...the low register is not flat, and is very resonant.  The 5th harmonic is great, and so is the upper register intonation.  Slots are superb.  Responsive and flexible, the 700S Eterna II makes a great jazz horn, but will perform well playing commercial, classical styles, and even performs well in studio sessions. Here is a 2008 letter from Brett Getzen discussing the differences between the 590 Capri, Eterna 700S, Eterna II 700S, and 700SP:
"A few things to clear up. First off, make sure you are talking about the right 700 trumpet. There is a 700S and a 700SP "Special". With the 700S being the much better of the two.

Second, there are a lot of differences between a 700S and a 590:
Inside Slides: 700S=Gold Brass; 590=Nickel Silver
Mouthpipe: 700S=Gold Brass; 590=Nickel Silver
The bells and mouthpipes are also of different tapers. There are other, more minor, differences like bracing, trim, the 590 coming standard with a 1st slide trigger, and a 700S only being offered in bright silver plate.Third, the 700S does not have a seamless bell. That is the 700SP.Fourth, there is no difference between the 700S Eterna and the 700S Eterna II. That was merely a name change for marketing reasons. Finally, while the 700S isn't the same as the original 900/90
