Il fondatore Keith McMillen ha pensato al K-Mix come un mixer particolare, che non ricalcasse le orme di nessun altro prodotto. Già alla vista ricorda molto più uno dei suoi controller che un mixer. E' completamente programmabile, controllabile via MIDI, molto portatile e con una qualità audio professionale. Nella pratica K-Mix è un mixer audio da 8 Input /10 Output ed un mixer programmabile. Ospita due preamplificatori professionali a basso rumore interno ed una superficie di controllo ottico-tattile progettata per controllare qualsiasi DAW con otto fader canali, un master fader, quattro controlli rotary, nove pulsanti di selezione dei canali, quattro pulsanti di selezione banchi e 17 pulsanti funzione. Il mixer è alimentato via USB e supporta un routing completamente flessibile. Il suo DSP interno prevede equalizzazione semi-parametrica a tre bande, compressore/limiter, gate, riverbero master (con mandate individuali per i canali), output surround (Quadraphonic, 5.1, 7.1 e Octophonic) e può anche funzionare senza computer. Gli otto input sono analogici bilanciati con due XLR/TRS combo e sei TRS 1/4 con fino a +28dB di gain. Ci sono otto output analogici TRS da 1/4 più una connessione Micro-USB digitale che fornisce audio bi-direzionale e conversione 24-bit/96kHz. Troviamo poi i MIDI I/O completi, una seconda connessione Mini-USB per l'alimentazione e MIDI I/O verso un expander opzionale. Una delle idee più brillanti di questo mixer/interfaccia è quello di non avere parti mobili, il che lo rende particolarmente resistente ed a prova di rotture e trasporto, senza nulla che si possa staccare o rompere se messo velocemente in una borsa.
