Up for sale, a 1962 Fender Bassman head with the highly coveted 6G6-B circuit in excellent condition and in good working order. If you're looking for the incredible power, sweetness, and range of a vintage Blonde era Fender Bassman, you'll fall in love with this 6G6-B. The tone is robust, authoritative and after about 4 on the Volume dial, the sparkling Fender cleans give way to smooth tube overdrive, with incredible harmonic content and a dynamic, touch sensitive response. A Fender 6G6-B Bassman was used on more Beatles recording sessions than the Vox AC30, was a particular favorite of Pete Townshend, and has become the amp forever linked with Brian Setzer's classic Rockabilly tones! All of the original transformers are intact, and all of the famed original blue molded Ajax tone caps are present in the preamp as well. All transformers are made by Schumacher (Fender's primary supplier in this era) with date codes ranging from the 17th-20th week of 1962. The main filter caps and bias cap have been professionally replaced to keep the amp operating within original factory spec, while the preamp is untouched.  All of the original carbon comp resistors and CTS pots are intact, along with the original cloth wiring and gray two-prong power cable (upgrade to a modern three-prong available, free of charge). The tubes consist of a matched pair of vintage RCA 6L6GCs which have been properly biased and sound fantastic. In the preamp, this Bassman boasts four original matching RCA branded 12AX7s.The original rough blonde tolex and oxblood grillcloth are intact and extremely clean. The only wear of note is a few small stains which originate from knots in the original pine cabinet. The sap seeps out of these knots over the decades and lightly stains the tolex, but aside from this understandable and natural aging, the amp is clean as can be! The original chassis straps, piggyback clip bars, corners, and flat "Fender" logo are also intact, along with the piggyback clip bars. Perhaps the most notable cosmetic feature is the original "dogbone" handle, which is unbroken and in remarkable shape. The tube chart is completely intact inside the cab too, with a "LG" date stamp which translates to July of 1962.This is a rare and well kept example of one of Fender's most desirable Brownface amplifiers with original blonde tolex!
