  Description

This is an authentic Fender Lap Steel Deluxe, made in 1946 or 1947.
It is a WONDERFUL ... classic piece, of music history.
What a chance--- own one of the formative pieces of the Fender legacy. I have researched this particular model of the three styles Fender created during the 1946-47 time period and of the 3-- the Deluxe is the hardest to find-- with the fewest pictures, fewest accurate references.... and fewer actual models available.  Virtually none are available in this condition and fewer yet with a case in the condition of this one.  It comes with it's original, functioning ampcord and a slide.
SIZE and CONDITION--  Here is the good and the less good-- there really is no bad.

Overall the condition of both, case and steel, is very good ---vintage.  The interior of the case is royal blue cropped fake fur---Typical of the era. The interior includes a compartment for the cable, slide and pics.

The exterior of the case is appropriately aged. Minor staining and scuffing. The finish on the latching and hinges is dark and warn instead of bright and shiny.  I have a feeling a professional could make this case look nearly new.  There is no key for the case.  The case is solid and functions well.
The instrument itself is a pleasure---in proud and well played condition. 90% of the chrome is shiny with appropriate use marks.  The fret board is incredible to look at and the plate on the tuner head is as well. The chrome issues are as follows------The knobs which show average finish loss on the sides from use and the pick plate directly below the low knob---This area is where the pick strikes and over the years has endured soft scratching and has lost its GLEAM. It is still silver and not corroded at all... it is simply missing a mirror-like finish due to the millions of fine scratches.
The body has only vintage scratching and scraping from have been alive over 70 years.  Some of the pic marks are deep enough to have taken off the varnish-- but not the wood.  I personally would leave it as it is-- but if you want to -- a simple fix.  The is some scarring on the corner back side of the neck (see photo) deep enough to take some color away, but again not a real problem.
The steel has been amp checked and both control knob still function. The tuners are original, however they are very brittle -- with one knob nearly gone.  I would guess the rest are in precarious health.
