This is a beautiful Vintage 1931 Selmer Paris Alto Saxophone Mark III Super Sax "Cigar Cutter", serial number 14295. This is from the golden age of Selmer saxophones. The instrument was used professionally for a short time, then stored for many years. I purchased it in 1963 and had Selmer do a complete refurbishment, including gold lacquer. I was told gold flecks were used in the lacquer. I used the instrument for 3 years, then put it in storage in 1967. It has been untouched for 50 years. The lacquer is in excellent shape with only a few wear spots and damage. There are very few dents or damage. One small dent is visible in the eight image. The bell is beautifully engraved.I presume that it needs adjusting and probably new pads. But I will leave that for the buyer.Included is a "Master" by Gregory Hollywood 3210 5A 18M (medium chamber) hard rubber mouthpiece. The mouthpiece shows a fair number of scrapes and scratches around its body, but all of the important aspects are straight. There are no indentations in the beak, no nicks or chips to the original tip and rails, and the shank's original metal shank band is intact. This mouthpiece alone sells for as much as $500 used.The case is of unknown origin and is in very rough condition. I will include the stand if you like.This is for the true connoisseur who knows what a "Cigar Cutter" is and can appreciate its wonderful tone. If you are in the area, you are welcome to try it out.
