There were not any JM limited edition TBO's for sale on Reverb or Ebay so I decided to put together a stratocaster very close to the signature limited edition John Mayer Black 1 . The neck is a 2015 SRV 60's oval with a 12" radius, dark Pao Ferro fretboard, original vintage tuners. The neck relief is .010 at the 7th fret and the neck is straight as an arrow .All in Mint condition.New LSR nut was installed in 2016 by Luthier Eric Ramsey Guitars in Billings,Mt.
This guitar stays in tune.I didn't like the nickel/silver stock frets on it so I had it re-fretted last year with EVO titanium narrow jumbo frets by Luthier Eric Ramsey Guitars in Billings,Mt. These frets last as long as stainless steel frets. Bending strings anywhere on the neck are easywith these frets. The mint pick guard and back plate and gold plated neck plate are like new. The pick guard is exactly like the JM's Black 1 limited edition strat pick guard. The body is a 2016 american special series alder, Black , light coated polyurethane. All the hardware is new last year. The body pockets are lined with copper shielding . The pots, wiring , switch, output jack are new in 2016 . This Body is Mint. The pickups are the Klien "Jazzy Cats" ( new in 2015). Check out their website for more info. The sound and quality of these pickups are outstanding. They are as good or better sounding than the JM signature pickups or the SRV texas specials. Klein has absolutely nailed that mid range scoop effect that everyone seems to like on the JM signature pickups. I also installed a treble/bleed circuit similar to what fender is installing on all the CS strats. Pickups are in MINT CONDITION.So there you have it. This is an ALL USA fender parts guitar with exception to the pickups and treble/bleed circuit parts. The Strat chime and quack sound are all included. I was a little concerned about how the LSR nut would effect the sound. There was no noticeable change. In fact the strings sounded louder and brighter when phrasing or chording with a pick or using just the fingers. The classic 60's Strat sound is alive and well with this axe.The reason why I'm selling is that I'm still on a journey of trying to find the right stratocaster for my playing style . In the meantime I'm having a lot of fun looking, buying and building.I don't think I've ever made a profit on a guitar that I've sold on eBay or Reverb. At best I've broke even. If you want to see all my receipts for this axe let me know.Mint fender G&G hard case comes with the guitar.
