2003 ZEUS (KANSTUL) "GUARNERIUS" MODEL ZTR 900 ASX - SILVER PLATED MEDIUM LARGE BORE, PROFESSIONAL Bb TRUMPET IN MINT CONDITION
I have been playing horns for 60 years...collecting and restoring vintage trumpets and cornets, and building custom horns for 49.  Over the decades I amassed a vast trumpet/ cornet collection.  During the past few years I have thinned out the herd and continue to do so.  All my horns are gig ready...cleaned, valves adjusted & aligned, and with new corks & felts when necessary. PLEASE LOOK AT THE OTHER HORNS I HAVE LISTED For your consideration, here is a spectacular mint example of a 14 year old ZeuS Guarnerius (aka "The Strad Killer") that is in need of a new owner.  This trumpet is a copy of a 1953 Mt. Vernon Bach Strad 37 built by Zig Kanstul.  It is pretty much the same as a Kanstul 1537, but is offered in a few finishes whereas the 1537 only comes in polished silver plate.  Additionally, this ZeuS also comes with a full radius .470" bore tuning slide that really opens up the horn, and heavyweight bottom valve caps ($60. + option).  It has seen VERY little play time over the years, and is the representative example of a ZTR 900 ASX in my collection.  IMHO, Bach Strads are somewhat stuffy with a weak upper register.  Zig Kanstul re-designed the trumpet to alleviate the stuffiness, and made the upper register sizzle.  Plus, Kanstul valves are considered to be some of the finest and fastest in the industry.  You may purchase a new ZTR 900 ASX from Zachary Music in Canada (sole distributor) for $2,250. plus $60. for the heavyweight caps, or a Kanstul 1537 that sells at deep discount for $2,552., but why pay those prices when you can have this mint ZeuS for less?  When I purchased the trumpet it did not come with a mouthpiece which at the time was an additional $150.  Therefore, I am including a brand new gold plated copy of a Bach Megatone 3C mouthpiece.  The original case (which was much like a ProTec) seems to have gone "walkabout" over the years, so I am including a brand new thermo plastic Gator brand case.
This ZTR 900 ASX is a heavy weight 2 lb. - 10 oz. trumpet (with the heavyweight bottom valve caps) that will accommodate virtually any music style and acoustic venue.  The trumpet has a clear and resonant tone that is easily controlled...its sound is big, bold, centered and focused.  It is a free and open blowing horn with a rich warm tone, and loves to be piloted in the stratosphere where it develops a sophisticated edge with complex overtones.  This horn has great intonation...the low register is not flat, and is very resonant.  The 5th harmonic is great, and so is the upper register intonation.  Slots are superb.  Responsive and flexible, the ZTR 900 ASX makes a great jazz, classical, commercial horn, but with the right mouthpiece will back off nicely for those soft ballads.  Mechanically, this trumpet is in mint condition with lightning fast valves that are bright and shiny, without staining nor pitting, and have factory spec compression.  All slides operate with silky smoothness.  Cosmetically, the trumpet is in mint condition both inside and out, straight with no dents, dings, deep scratches nor solder repairs.  I tend to be overly critical and as accurate as possible when describing my horns, so that no one receives any "surprises".  So, bid with confidence as I think you'll find my feedback speaks for itself.
