Fantastic, all-original 1978 Fender Telecaster in a Sunburst finish, maple neck.
This is both a collectible, and a true player's guitar. The wear on the neck and body looks awesome, people pay good money for Fender Custom Shop to create this relic look. The guitar has had two owners, myself for a handful of years, and the original owner before that. I mostly babied this guitar in my studio. The previous owner was an amazing player.
All original (except the case). 100% of this guitar is how it was when it left the factory in 1978 (well, the strings have been changed).The serial number on the headstock is S8 + 5 digits, which indicates 1978. As you can see on the butt of the neck, the stamp can be read like this:
13 = Telecaster/Telecaster Custom/Telecaster Thinline 02 = This one's strange, since 02 is not an officially documented neck code. Having said that, Fenders of this era had some interesting inconsistencies!
51 = 51st week of the year8 = 19782 = Tuesday Where the neck joins with the body is a label with the names of the people that worked on the guitar. A relatively rare "R. FRIEND" stamp appears as well.This is a late 70s Fender that plays and sounds like a dream. It weighs 8 lbs and 15.5 oz. The action is great and the neck just feels right.I do not have the original case, but it comes with a very nice case.Shipping & HandlingThe guitar will ship from Houston, TX.
