I sure like these quality metal clarinets, as made by, Bettoney, Peddler, Wm Haynes, etc., of course I'm referring to the quality ones, and not the imported brands, wood, plastic, or composite. This Bass Clarinet is a Bettoney "Silva Bet" model, made in Boston Mass USA, by the Bettoney Company, which in my opinion, especially the "Silva Bet", definitely is the BEST one made in the entire World.
I believe, but don't know for sure, or can guarantee, the "Silva Bet" and especially the ones whose serial number starts with the letter "S" , are Sterling Silver or maybe coin Silver, but in no way can guarantee such to be true. This Bass Clarinets serial number is S-369, both top and bottom body numbers match, "Silva Bet" is marked (hard to get a picture) on both pieces (see blue arrow) we can't find any numbers on neck, nor no writing/numbers on the bell, however I believe everything is original. The clarinet is missing a key cup, as he arrow shows, should not cost more than a dollar or so, plus labor to repair, in addition 2 solder joints should be made, on finger touches (one included), this should just about cover everything we can see except, approximately 50% of the keys are stuck, and will have to be freed up, along with it's complete repad/overhaul, some TLC, work, and money - keep in mind I've had a recent heart attack, and not able to walk without aid at all, spent 45 days in the hospital & rehab facility, and as such, I am not doing any repairs at all. I'm sure you'll find out, this instrument has a reputation of being the very best - please goggle Bettoney Silva Bet to read information on this model. Because tbis horn is not playable, keep in mind this instrument is sold as parts, again not playable, or use the horn for whatever -
it is absolutely not returnable for any
reason. When restored (if you chose to restore it), you should fall in love with it's manufactured quality, and beautiful sound.
