If you are looking for that special ingredient for that vintage "beauty of the burst*" project and require a period correct old grown, seasoned material- this might be just the IDEAL billet for your deep dish carved top re-top or conversation! You are looking at a "bench mark piece" from my own Private Stock Collection with "pith flecking" that's is a trademark characteristics of eastern red maple followed by 3 dimensional figuring with highly sought after "ribbon curl"- this one is a little more unique.............Up for bid is for one (1) highly sought after with rarer ribbon flame pattern, slab sawn cut, old growth Eastern Maple (acer rubrum) electric guitar luthier billet. This has excellent chatoyance with excellent figuring! Excellent growth ring complimented by an excellent tap tone!!!!!Ideal for those that want an ideal period top for an LP conversion or a re-top! LP single-cut outline (non cut-away) on the one face to show fit and size. LP single-cut halve outline about 17-5/8" long, 13" wide at the lower bout ("A" & "B" side) shown for fit and visual reference. There is an outside corner wane at the one face at both outside corners that can be isolated and/or worked around- the pattern with the LP* singlecut halve outline as shown will clear the smaller/shorter wane. If you decide to use the other end with as the center seam with the larger corner wane, you can drop the pattern down and you will catch a remnant tailing of it, which should drop out as it will be at the tenon neck cavity route. Dimensions (approximate):20-3/16" long x 7.00" wide x 1.960" thick. Old grown/seasoned (about 9 percent moisture content). Slab sawn/flat sawn cut. Sapwood 2 face/2 side edges. Rough surfaced planed 2 face/1 side edge- opposite side edge has been rough sawn cut. One side edge has a very mild planer tear outs (1/16" at its deepest). This billet will require to be jointed planed and surface so it is flat with an even thickness, before book-matching (should net a workable billet of 1.75" thickness). This will need properly acclimation to your shop prior to fabrication. Clear shellac/denatured alcohol mixed applied to the surface to help show color, grain and figure (if any). Photographed with exterior natural lighting conditions. Ends sealed with Anchor seal. Physical weight is approx. 6.15 pounds. *****COMMENT: as mentioned above there is some minor planer tear-outs at the one side edge (1-1/16" at it's deepest). There is a minor black mineral deposit towards the bottom end. There is an outside corner wane at the one face at both outside corners that can be isolated and/or worked around- the pattern with the LP* singlecut halve outline as shown will clear the smaller/shorter wane (approximately 1.735" long, .690" wide and 1.890" thickness clear at this area). If you decide to use the other end with as the center seam with the larger corner wane (approximately 3.50" long, .750" wide and 1.710" thickness at this area), you can drop the pattern down and you will catch a remnant tailing of it, which should drop out as it will be at the tenon neck cavity route. Please see photo's for details and reference of the items mentioned above. *NOTE: To all international bidders- be aware that shipping this product to your country is subject to necessary duties and taxes that you will be responsible for.
