SWR® built this amp primarily for acoustic bassists, but it is also fantastic for the acoustic/electric bass guitar and I also love playing my electric bass through it on light duty gigs. It has a rear-firing 5" speaker that I find makes the upright bass sound much more natural when amplified. Normally when you play your upright acoustically, you almost feel enveloped by the sound of it and it's an awesome feeling. Then, with most amps, when you plug into them the sound is much more uni-directional and unsatisfying. With the Natural Blonde, because of the rear-firing speaker it creates warm, enveloping presence with the tone. I've never heard another upright amp like it!If you just play upright, this is the ultimate acoustic bass amp,...and if you are a doubler on upright and electric, it has 2 channels with separate EQs, so it's like a swiss army knife that can do it all.
