Before reading the description of this item, I urge you to first check out my Ebay Seller Feedback. As you will see, my feedback is not only 100% positive--it's over-the-top giddy, a number noting not only the instrument's quality but also my integrity and knowledge and objectivity. I never disappoint. (To find out why buyers again and again describe my sells as "best experience I've ever had on Ebay," skip the description and see the WHAT I DO section at the end of the listing.)*******************Very near mint Yamaha GC (Grand Concert) GC-5 built and signed by legendary luthier Hideyuki Ezaki in Japan in 1979, with original hardshell case. (I had previously listed with a bag but found its original case under my bed. It shows considerable signs of wear but is in good working order.) This guitar listed for $1400 new so, even factoring in the difference between list and actual selling price, still went for what would be over $4,000 in today's money. Three barely discernable things the camera couldn't pick up separate this from mint condition (other than its sound, which is obviously way better now than it was 37 years ago): a tiny spec on the treb side of the top; a tiny chip off the bass side of the bridge lip; a few swirls on the back you may be able to see if you hold it up in good light. That's it. Top is very rare Ezo (Yezo) spruce (AAAAA). No longer legally harvested, this native Japanese spruce is heavily streaked like Sitka but has a silky finish closer to that of Englemann. Back and sides are Indian rosewood; fretboard is Ebony; bone nut and saddle; fancy tie block; deluxe tuners (still work great); immaculate finish. Sound is imperial: Esaki studied under Ramirez, but this instrument is somewhat different from the guitars we associate with that firm (for starters, a hellavu lot easier to play: scale is 650; 52 at nut; action on low E is 3.9mm on bass side, about 3.5 on the treb). Sound isn't as sweet as its Spanish counterparts--clearer, more imperial; good separation and balance; good volume and sustain.New strings. One note about set up: good string angle over the saddle and, as stated, great action, but it's set up as low as you'll want it. If you want to go flamenco low, this isn't the guitar to do that with. Its hard to imagine you'll find this model in much better condition than this, so, while I'll entertain bids, I think anything under a thousand on this guitar is a good deal (though you can find for less--if you do, read the fine print).
Inquire about this and other stock, some listed, some not, all interesting, rare and priced to move: 706-372-4310.WHAT I DOFor over a decade, I have searched out guitars of every conceivable sort, always looking for the unique instrument, especially those that are, 1.) great deals; and/or 2.) possessed of real character. I take care to ensure that each guitar is set up and playable as is--new strings, action as described, NO ISSUES: If you get it from me, it's ready to play out of the box. My prices are always competitive, usually well below what a similar instrument comparably set up would sell for elsewhere. A few typical Ebay feedbacks (some from repeat buyers):Fantastic! As promised. Great communication. Great guitar.
