1966 Fender Stratocaster. Up for auction is my amazing 1966 Fender Stratocaster.• Has had a refret at some point - current fret wire appears to be oversize for this year and model.
• A jumper wire has been added to the pickup selector switch, and the bridge ground wire has been changed. Several specific solder joints have been touched, indicating that the pickguard/pickup assembly has been removed. All appears to be either period correct or original.
• Pick guard has a crack near the upper neck position pickup attachment as seen in the photos.
• The body has the appearance of possible re-finish. Have had two top Guitar Shops make this disposition but cannot say for sure - one Gruhn Guitars via several detailed photos using their online appraisal interface the other is the Blue Guitar in San Diego. Neither can authenticate if the finish is original. All other parts have been authenticated with clear markings.
• Plug jack has been changed as disclosed when I purchased it back in 2006
I bought this guitar from a website called the Strat Collector back in 2006. It was presented to me as 100% original other than a plug jack change. I missed several keys characteristics as mentioned above when I received it and never questioned it's authenticity back then. It simply sounded as I expected and played even better. Major lesson learned if in fact the body has been re-refinish. My next step of authenticity would be to send it to Gruhn for a "in hand" analysis, but I don't have the funds to do this, so I am selling it and disclosing what I have been told about this guitar. Either way it is an amazing guitar and I'll be sad to see it go. By the way Gruhn Guitars estimated the value at $8000 back in July 2016.Neck Date: 13 JAN 66BThis 1966 Fender Stratocaster will be professionally packaged and insured for full amount of purchase.Also has what I was told was the original ashtray cover, tremelo bar, extra spring, back plate and screws.
