Olivia's Vintage would like to present this rare original 1964 Ampeg/Burns TR2 in its original Blonde finish that has been converted to a left-handed guitar. This model was the first semi-hollow electric made by Burns. It has a SOLID CARVED top and back with solid flame maple sides. This was also a very innovative guitar with a very early active pre-amp built into the electronics. It has a good playing neck with great frets. The left-handed conversion involved cutting an additional cavity on the opposite side of the top to house the electronics. A pickguard was made to cover the original cavity on the other side. Other parts that are not original are the bridge, one strap button, the jack nut and washer, battery clip (original is included), some of the wires, and the jack plate over the original jack hole. It does not have the "TR2" emblem usually seen on the face of the headstock, and is missing the original string guide used between the bridge and tailpiece. There are two additional strap button holes of which one has been filled. The original jack hole has a crack in the wood running out along the side of the body, and both jack holes have a surface crack running out from it. There are some minor nicks + dings, very slight binding shrinkage on the inner treble side edge of the top near the controls, a chip out of the top edge in the bridge position pickup, and other cosmetic wear. Despite all these issues, this rare English made Burns remains structurally sound. The pictured vintage hardshell case with newer lining is included. All electronics work and sound great.
