Istanbul Agop 24" 30th Anniversary Ride Cymbal (3080 g)Tip top. As good as it gets. Stunning. Since getting our hands on various lines of Istanbul Agop, we started to take notice of these traditional Turkish lid makers but recent strides in their identity and character through the new Mantra and 30th Anniversary series have us well and truly fixated on these cymbals. The 30th Anniversary cymbal line is a land mark achievement in traditional cymbal making - no one makes cymbals like this any more. This is something very special from Istanbul.Dark, complex and aged with a dry, woody, balanced stick definition. Expertly detailed hammering combined with just enough weight allow for detailed sticking, where the wash will swell underneath, while you can work it to a roar or back it off. A traditional, open bell that sounds like it is unmistakably part of the same piece of bronze and a wobbly but responsive edge round this cymbal off."Each 30th Anniversary Series Cymbal begins with its own uniquely shaped bell , followed by intense, deep and comprehensive hammering and is finished with our own unique pre-ageing process." It's that ageing process that really pushes these cymbals over the top, taking them from 'those lids you hit', to true musical instruments.The labour and level of skill involved in making these cymbals really is unparalleled. The 30th Anniversary line is designed for traditional styles of music. Their response, volume and versatility speaks to players that tickle and coax tones out of their kits so if you're in a band called RIB-CAGE, play with 2Bs and have everything including your eyelids tattooed, your unique brand of djenty-tech-core requires something other than these cymbals. Aside from them not cutting through the chugging and pinch-harmonics of your latest EP, "Gorilla Tears and Lava", we've heard that if anyone breaks a 30th Anniversary cymbal, Mr. Istanbul will find you and give you a stern talking to, in person!*We weigh each of these cymbals when they arrive to us. This 24" weighs 3080 grams. This is the only cymbal of this weight of this model (the tolerance for size in this line is +/- 200 grams, this is one of the lightest 24" 30th Anniversary cymbals we've found).***Because of the organic nature of these cymbals and the production processes involved, supply is limited and this is the only cymbal of this weight. We have the largest stock of 30th Anniversary cymbals in the U.K. but please take the limited availability into account. If you want this one, buy this one because this is the only one.
