Never thought I'd sell it but i'm not really playing anymore. I could keep it and stare at it or someone can buy it, play and enjoy the coolness that is this guitar.Backstory, Barrington was the 1985 brain-child of one of the original founders of Kramer guitars who wanted to start his own brand. Kai Yatasuka, one of Japan's foremost guitar designers (now with his own company Bacchus) designed the models for us and shipped us the necks and bodies where I did all assembling, electrical/hardware installation and set up. Every Barrington made passed through my hands. This particular guitar was the prototype of what would become the BRG-874c model. 1/2" Eastern hardrock maple carved top over a mahogany back, Les Paul style but in the Tele profile with front binding. Ebony fingerboard, bound neck with one of the very first contoured neck/body designs. Incredibly comfortable, and besides the small numbers of these guitar produced, you don't find many for sale because players tend to keep these.Comes with the Gotoh-designed 1996 model Floyd Rose, to my mind the best. The operation of this trem on my guitar is as stable as you want. I've played this guitar in many bands over the years and it has been one of my two "go to" guitars.Originally fitted with a very primitive active pickup set of low impedence Barcus Berry pickups which never went over well, I changed them to conventional humbuckers. Over the years I setted for a Gibson 57 Classic Plus at the bridge, Tesla VR-lll PAF style at the neck, with push-pull on the tone for split coil. The tones are there. Versatile for anything. Hard rock, metal, blues....I have done it all with this guitar. Two telltale clues to it being a prototype. One is the lack of routing under the trem. When it did go into production we changed the body/neck angle and brought the bridge down with the rout. No serial number as well.Back trem plate is obviously missing - not sure I have it, if I find it I'll include it. Never used it on. There is some worming on the back and at the rear strap button a chip out of the finish but considering that the guitar is 32 years old and has been in almost constant use (the last few years in my smoke-free studio) it is remarkably good shape.Feel free to ask questions.
