While there is no Gibson logo on this case it is indeed a Gibson case with the rare aqua blue interior. If you’ve never seen one, don’t feel bad because we hadn’t either until very recently. One latch is broken at the top of the case and the case is fairly worn, but it protects the guitar adequately, but it may be time for a new case if you’re going to gig this one every night. It will do just fine for storage a light gigging purposes. The Guitar! Silverbursts are the coolest 70s Les Pauls and also some of the most expensive. This is a super player’s grade version with pretty much all replaced parts, lots of wear and tear and some finish touchup work. The guitar weighs 10lbs 3.5oz  and sports a 60s style neck profile  The headstock has a few nicks and dings on it in the lacquer. There was once a locking nut on this guitar that has since been removed, holes plugged and touched up professionally. If you’re looking really closely, you can see these holes in the light by the truss rod cover – if we didn’t tell you, its possible you would’ve never seen it. If it wasn't for the black light test, we wouldn't never suspected a thing. The fretboard is gorgeous ebony and it has been recently refretted with nice frets. We are not sure the exact grade of size, but they are taller than the originals by a little bit, but not railroad tracks by any means. There is slight wear to the ebony board from the process, but nothing too bad. The nut has been replaced and ambered lacquer has been put over the sides of the nut to make it appear original. There is some acoustic buzz while playing, but not evident once amplified. The top of the guitar has lots of wear, including finish wear in the arm rest area. It appears the top of the guitar has been over sprayed or refinished as it does not glow the same under black light. Based off the locking nut, it is possible that this guitar could have had a kahler at one point in time, but as hard as we look, we cannot be 100% sure. We only see one faint line under the tailpiece that 'could' be evidence, but no other traces. The top still glows under blacklight, though not as brightly as the back and sides so the work was likely done a while ago.The back of the neck shows lots of finish wear. When feeling with your hand, it is not 100% smooth, but not too bad either. While playing, its hard to feel the difference. The back of the guitar exhibits buckle rash and playing wear. The top strap button was moved several times, from different areas on the side and on the back of the guitar (since filled and touched up)Pickups are Seymour Duncan’s JB and Jazz models, the pots are 500k upgrades. Tone Pros bridge and tailpiece were installed. This is the ultimate player's guitar as all the modern improvements you could want have already been done for youConclusion If you’re looking for a player’s grade silver burst and can’t spend $3200 for an all original example, this is an excellent candidate to choose from. It might not be a no-excuses example, but its had lots of upgrades and maintenance so it is ready to go for another 40 years!
