| Only a handful of prototype semi-hollow Starcaster Bass models appeared during the mid 1970s, distinctive as the only offset semi-hollow bass guitar in Fender history, to say nothing of its two enormous humbucking pickups. After decades of virtually fabled status, the electrifying Modern Player Starcaster Bass offers superior sound, build and beauty ideal for bassists with a flair for appealingly unconventional Fender style. With its thin semi-hollow offset body with stylish f holes, short scale (30”), dual humbucking bass pickups and much more, you could say the Starcaster Bass is “better than it never was.”This bass is waiting for a home in consumer hands! It is lightly stamped "used" on the back of the headstock. This designation means it has a minor cosmetic blemish. It is a completely playable instrument with no sacrifice of tone, structure, or playability. This particular bass has a finish scratch between the lower f-hole and tone knob and some finish checking between the neck pocket and neck pickup. Lastly, the guitar had a ding on the edge which has been filled and sealed smooth to the touch by a Fender-authorized refurbisher. I have included a close-up photo of each imperfection. Otherwise, this bass is in flawless condition. This bass has a beautiful neck and great action up and down the fretboard. It has received a professional setup and is ready to play with fat, vintage humbucking tone and a comfortable 30” scale length. This discontinued finish is very hard to find!
